Modular homes are designed in modules or rooms, then brought to a site and assembled on a permanent foundation. They are less expensive than build on the lot homes and can be ideal for a variety of living requirements and styles. Modular homes are popular in most areas of North America.

The modular home will need the same type of wiring, plumbing and structural and foundation requirements as a build on lot home. Many modular home builders will provide professional hook up and assembly of the modular home on site as part of the purchase price.

If you are changing or modifying any aspects of the modular home either at the point of construction or on the lot, be sure to check into any additional costs or difficulties that you may encounter. Most modular home manufacturers will work with buyers on small modifications, but large changes may not be possible.
